At a massive 39 metres in length, Orion is a liveaboard that delivers hotel standards across the board. With a friendly concierge to hand 24 hours, 2 Jacuzzis and even a massage room, your every creature comfort has been thought out. There are 12 cabins with a choice of twin beds or queen size doubles. There is even a master stateroom that not only has extra space but also it's own private deck area and Jacuzzi. Each cabin also has its own plasma screen and DVD! The large sundeck is a perfect place to relax between dives and at the end of the day you can pull up a chair at one of the 2 bars on board and chat over the day's diving delights with fellow divers.

The Diving

Orion will take you to all the classic reefs as well as some well kept secrets. The Indian Ocean is blue and always inviting at a warm 27 degrees. The dive sites mix up adrenalin pumping drift dives with gentler reef explorations so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Manta are the big highlight and frequent the waters flowing between the atolls. Whale sharks too are not uncommon in the area so keep your eyes peeled. These gentle giants share the waves with grey reef sharks, huge schools of snapper, barracuda and travally. No 2 dives are ever the same in the Maldives and with Orion you are always in the safe hands of the experts.

Maldives on M/Y Nautilus 1 and 2

Nautilus One and Two combine the best features of traditional Maldivian design with the requirements of today’s diver. She is owned and operated by an Austrian-Maldivian partnership, two friends who have spent some 15 years working and diving in the Maldives 

Nautilus One. At 30 metres in length and with a 9 metre beam she is larger and more spacious than most liveaboards currently operating in the area, and stands out for her appealing design, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. There are seven large guest cabins each with private bathroom, 4 twin cabins 3 double cabins. Each cabin has its own fan and windows as well as air conditioning. There are extensive deck areas for sunbathing or relaxing with a book in the shade.

Nautilus Two is a brand new vessel designed and built by the owners of Nautilus I. The owners and operators are an Austrian-Maldivian partnership, two friends who have spent some 15 years working and diving in the Maldives before launching Nautilus One in 1999. Whilst replicating the traditional design of her popular predecessor, Nautilus II is even more spacious and luxurious and at 43m length one of the largest liveaboards operating in the Maldives. Guests are accommodated in 12 large cabins, each with twin or double option, fully air conditioned and with private bathroom (hot and cold water, flush toilets, and massage shower). There are extensive deck areas for sunbathing or relaxing with a book in the shade or in one of the two Whirlpools!
The saloon is comfortably furnished, the bar serves draught beer, wine spirits, and cocktails. Soft drinks, fresh juice, tea, coffee and sandwiches are available in The Coffee Shop. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually served outside on the covered foredeck. Fresh buffets are prepared everyday with a combination of Asian, Maldivian and European food. On every trip there is a beach BBQ taken on one of the uninhabited islands. There is also an opportunity to explore some of the fishing villages and meet the local inhabitants.
Diving is conducted from the Nautilus II 16 metre Diving Dhoni, where all tanks, compressors and dive equipment are stowed during the trip. There are three dives a day with the occasional night dive. Cylinders are 12 litre and 14 litre. Nitrox is available.

Bay of Tadjoura and Whale Sharks

Between the months of October - January  Bay of Tadjoura Djibouti is home to resting migrating whale sharks. Guests have the chance to dive and snorkel on a daily basis with these gentle giants in an area known as the "Devils Cauldron" It is common to see many whale sharks including juvenile's who stay within the safe confines of the Djibouti coast line. However its not just the whale sharks that the Djibouti waters bless divers with. During the same months sightings of Manta Rays, Pilot Whales, Dolphins and sharks have all been spotted. Grey Reef sharks and nurse sharks are the most common but its not unheard of to see tigers and hammerheads.

October to December: Tadjourah & Ghoubet
During the whaleshark season, the itinerary will be flexible according to whale shark sightings and will involve extensive surface / snorkelling as well and deeper exploration of the Gulf Al Kharab.

The Goubet al Kharab is a large bay that is connected to the gulf of Tadjoura and the open sea by a narrow channel. Geologically it marks the start of the great rift valley and the junction between the African and Arabian continental plates. The bay attracts large numbers of whale sharks and manta rays from October to February.

Other dive sites: The Obock's step, wreck of Le Boutre, Ghoubet El Kharab's strait, the wrecks of Musha, Arthur Rimbaud & Salem Wreck, the Dôme, the Shark Teeth, Red Sands and Ras Eiro.

January to April: Tadjourah & Ghoubet / Lake Abbey & Assal
Thursday to Tuesday during the whaleshark season, the dive and snorkelling sites of Arta, Goubet Al Kharab, Musha and Maskali islands will be discovered, to maximise diving & snorkelling with the whale sharks.

Wednesday onwards, join optional land excursions to discover the exciting sights of Lake Abbey & Lake Assal staying in camps and guided by local nomads, or remain in the local hotel to discover Djibouti town or join day excursions, with day use in the hotel the following day before your transfer to the airport in the evening.

April to October: Seven Brothers / Lake Abbey & Assal
These remote uninhabited islands lie in the narrow Bab El-Mandab straits, which marks the southern entrance to the Red Sea. A range of superb dive sites offers some of Djibouti's most bio-diverse diving. Strong currents and extremely fine corals are a feature of many of the dives around the Sept Freres.  Less time will be spent in the Tadjourah area to allow for journey time to and from the Seven Brothers.

Wednesday onwards, join optional land excursions to discover the exciting sights of Lake Abbey & Lake Assal staying in camps and guided by local nomads, or remain in the local hotel to discover Djibouti town or join day excursions, with day use in the hotel the following day before your transfer to the airport in the evening.

NB: The Seven Brothers itineraries require a minimum level of experience for divers of PADI Advanced with 40 logged dives or equivalent. Experienced Open Water divers are not excluded, but may find enjoyment of some of the sites reduced by not being able to go deeper that 18m.

On arrival in Djibouti you are met by Nemo representatives and taken to the boat. You start diving on Thursday which will begin as a check dive. 
You will spend  6 nights onboard the boat coming back into port on Tuesday night. Divers will do up to 3 dives a day, as well as snorkelling.
